If you had the opportunity to raise your chances of getting a job by 200% — would you seize it? Millions of Americans are doing just that by earning a college degree.

Not only is having a degree encouraged, it will soon be necessary. 60% of all jobs in the economy will require postsecondary education beyond high school by 2020, according to an executive summary from the Georgetown Public Policy Institute: Center on Education and the Workforce. Anthony Carnevale, the Center’s director, concludes:

“College level skills determines access to decent jobs now. The modern economy continues to leave Americans without a college education behind."
How Your Education Affects Your Paycheck
A widening wage gap between degree and non-degree holders was revealed in a 2016 study from the Economic Policy Institute. Three decades ago, full-time workers with a bachelor’s degree made 40 percent more than those with only a high-school diploma. This year, the gap reached 81 percent.

College graduates, though hardly immune from the downturn, are also far less likely to be unemployed than non-graduates.

As of April 13, 2018 the average salaries were as follows:
  •  High School Diploma: $29,276
  •  Bachelor's Degree: $66,872
With more jobs requiring a degree — and the obvious pay increase — earning one seems like a logical decision. However, many Americans continue to struggle with the high and rising cost of attending college.

Now for the great news: a recent government-backed stimulus broadened a federal program by a whooping $15.6 billion to provide financial aid for those in need. If eligible, you can receive a $6,195 check for college, that doesn’t have to be paid back!

And we’re here to help you get it — at DegreeSources, we’ve partnered with guidance counselors who can assist you throughout the entire process of choosing and starting your degree. With someone walking you through every step, answering any questions that come up, it becomes extremely simple and easy to get started. Best of all, it’s free.

But you must act fast. With so many Americans taking advantage of the stimulus, it’s unclear what will happen once the amount runs dry. To see if you qualify, click on your state below or on the button beneath the map:
